The French horn

The French horn (also simply known as the "horn") is a brass instrument made of tubing wrapped into a coil with a flared bell. The double horn in F/B♭ is the horn most often used by players in professional orchestras and (amateur) wind bands. A musician who plays any kind of horn is generally referred to as a horn player (or less frequently, a hornist).

Horn lessons are both for beginners as advanced students. Everyone is welcome to learn how to play the horn, to pick it up again or to develop further skills. Pupils who want to switch from another instrument are also welcome.

You can start playing horn at a young age. Special children's horns are available on the market. The start of horn lessons can only be done after the front teeth have been changed. Also, at a later age, you can easily start learning how to play the horn.

Structure of the lessons

Because everyone has their own development, the structure of the lessons is personally tailored to everyone.

Beginning pupils learn to play the instrument step by step. Music from many different styles is played. This is fun and varied and it stimulates musicality.

Advanced students can work on expanding their repertoire, technical skills and musicality.

Because horn players will play in ensembles or orchestras, there will also be a lot of attention for ensemble playing. Jan is able to accompany a lot of repertoire on the piano!

Please contact Jan if you would like to receive a trial lesson.
